Position: Commercial Site Manager

Location: Honolulu, HI

Position Overview:

The Site Manager is charged with daily control of all aspects of the job site including, but not limited to, coordination of materials and labor, management of the schedule, management of subcontractors, on-site management of the job, and insuring adherence to safety, scope, timeline and quality requirements.

 

Job Roles & Responsibilities:

The following are duties and responsibilities of a Commercial Site Manager that must performed, when applicable, as a Commercial Site Manager and which may be modified or expanded by Company from time to time with reasonable advance notice to Employee:

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of Electrical and General Construction codes and be the construction subject matter expert for the group.
  • Ensure NEC and UBC Code compliance on installation of all electrical and mechanical components.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the efficient execution of the construction schedule.
  • Schedule communicate and coordinate with Project Manager and customer field representative for start date, deliveries and construction progress.
  • Set the sequence and assignment of work to minimize exposure to job site safety risks and to keep the installation on budget and on time.
  • Monitor and manage all aspects of the execution of the work: labor, material, schedule delays and additional mobilization.
  • Assist the sales team with site surveys and documenting project and site requirements.
  • Participate in pre-construction project reviews to determine resource requirements, develop a schedule and cost of the project.
  • Supervise and manage subcontractor’s work on site.
  • Translate, interpret, and ensure adherence of installation to construction schematics, design, specifications and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Visit all jobs in progress at least twice a week.
  • Provide daily status updates on active construction projects.
  • Lead and assist in the training of the field construction staff including; safety, quality, customer service, efficiency and administrative responsibilities.
  • Conduct quality control and safety inspections providing feedback to the construction staff.
  • Ensure all projects are being completed with a high level of safety and quality.
  • Ensure weekly safety meetings are conducted and documented.
  • Quickly and accurately handle required administrative duties including, but not limited to: training documentation, inspection documentation, project documentation completion.
  • Fill out necessary paperwork for materials and equipment delivery.
  • Review of payroll and timely submission to department manager for approval.
  • Review material/labor variance reports.
  • Track WIP (work in progress) – updated with weekly payroll processing;
  • Maintain updated calendar for current and upcoming jobs.
  • Demonstrate competency and confidence in leading mechanical and electrical work on both roof and ground mounted solar projects.
  • Assist on project installations ensuring their successful completion as needed.
  • Relate to the public and to customers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner, appropriately responding to their questions and concerns.
  • Meet inspectors and walk them through projects, discuss NEC Code in detail as needed.
  • Coordinate and complete inspection items and warranty requirements.
  • Commission completed projects.
  • Complete and maintain OSHA 30 training.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Maintain proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word and project management tools (MS Project).
  • Maintain safety training related to installation of PV Power Systems and basic CPR and First Aid.
  • Politely, effectively and succinctly communicate with customers, vendors, agencies and co-workers.
  • Perform other general support duties as assigned by Employee’s supervisor.
  • Perform all work on company provided or approved software and hardware.
  • Comply with Company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and all Company and OSHA safety requirements, policies and training, including the proper use of personal protection equipment (PPE), ladders and scaffolding.
  • Comply with all Company policiesand procedures as set forth in an Employee Handbook or otherwise published by Company from time to time.
  • Comply with the terms of the Employee Confidentiality, Non-Compete, And Invention Assignment Agreement executed by Employee.

 

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the building/construction trades.
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Journeyman Electrician preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Training preferred.
  • NABCEP PV or Thermal Certification preferred.
  • 5 years of construction supervision experience.
  • Proficient with computers, reading blue prints, plans and specs.
  • Experience implementing quality control/quality assurance processes.
  • Demonstrated Safe Working Practices and knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Understanding of construction math.
  • Success at managing and delivering construction projects on schedule and under budget.
  • Ability to analyze project scenarios and implement site-specific design modifications.
  • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate employees.
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • Great attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check, national driving record, and drug screen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
